Prevalent Software, Inc.
We are a team of passionate and dedicated software developers who love creating technologies that are cool and improve lives. We also love slow-smoked BBQ and Cajun food.
Prevalent Software was founded in 1998 by Robert Latham and Charles Loew, Jr., then employees of the former Optika, Inc., where they worked together inventing new technologies for creating business workflows visually without any programming. In the early days of the company, most of Prevalent’s income came from workflow consulting and custom software development. By spending a lot of time examining our customer’s processes and helping them improve, our product ideas were formed.
In January of 2000, Prevalent introduced the world’s first document capture product providing scanning, viewing, importing and indexing completely from within a web browser. Distributed Capture was born. Not long after, our expertise in workflow also found its way into Quillix, and we introduced the world’s first fully workflow enabled capture product.
Although we were bristling with excitement over our new inventions, the world wasn’t quite ready for us. Internet reliability, speed and security were lagging, and IT managers weren’t quite ready to bet the farm on an Internet app. We were selling Quillix, but not very many. Then 9/11 happened and nobody wanted to buy anything at all. We stuck with it though. We believed in our product. We owe a lot to our early partners and customers. Some of those early clients are still using Quillix today, even though the names on their buildings have changed several times over.
Today things have done a complete 180. Now everything runs on the Internet, and many companies have created software products to fill the demand. We are still here. Seasoned veterans, still inventing, still feeling a connection with our customers and partners. We have added many customers to the list of Quillix fans, and we hope to add many more.
To our partners and customers, we salute you. You are the ones who have made this adventure worthwhile.
